AAU ICE HOCKEY NOTICE

AAU Hockey has appointed an 11 person AAU National Championship Committee to develop planning for the 2015 Squirt and PeeWee Championships.  The Committee held its first conference on May 5th, 2014 and has already resolved several important concerns.  The first acts of the Committee renamed the National tournament and also selected the date and location for the event.
 

North American Championship
(for Squirt & PeeWee)
March 27-29, 2015
In the Niagara District (Buffalo, NY)
 

Naming our National level championship to the AAU Ice Hockey - North American Championships will welcome our AAU Canadian members into the Championship Tournament.  Unfortunately, last season our AAU National Championships had already been planned prior to the Canadian Independent Hockey Federation (CIHF) joining AAU.
The Committee felt that with the great nationwide expansion of AAU Mite Full-Ice Hockey it was now time to begin moving opportunities for hosting AAU national level events into other regions. Further AAU Hockey expansion at the Squirt and PeeWee classifications may very well be encouraged by selecting March 27-29, 2015 and the Greater Niagara Amateur Hockey League (GNAHL) as the host organization (within the Buffalo NY region).
Our Ontario based CIHF already has Squirt (Atom) and PeeWee teams in Burlington, Toronto, Barrie and London, as well as US-based teams within the greater metropolitan areas of Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Metro New York, New Haven CT, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington DC are all within relatively easy commuting distance.
The Committee has also elected to host multiple competition levels within six separate age classification, providing a more inclusive format for our members.

PeeWees will include:    PeeWee Major = 12U (2002),
                            PeeWee Mixed = 11U-12U (2003-02) and
                            PeeWee Minor = 11U (2003).
Squirts will include:        Squirt Major = 10U (2004),
                             Squirt Mixed = 9U-10U (2005-04) and
                             Squirt Minor = 9U (2005).
