LONDON, Ont. – Eleven championship teams were crowned at the 2020 AAU North American Championship this past weekend in London, Ontario.
In five different age divisions - Novice, Atom, PeeWee, Bantam and Midget – ranging from 7 years old to 18, teams were divided into pools named after notable National Hockey League stars.
The following teams were the winners of their respective pools:
Atom Eichel – Cube Development Team Global
Novice Hall – London Cobras
Novice Marner – Wellington County Tauros
Novice Anderson – Vaughan Golden Knights
PeeWee McDavid – Cube Development Team Global
PeeWee Matthews – Tri City Titans Gold
PeeWee MacKinnon – Halton Rage
Bantam Kane – Carlisle Chill Blue
Midget Ovechkin – Tri City Titans White
Midget Crosby – Tri City Titans Gold
Midget Gretzky – Norfolk Nationals
The winners of the Atom Eichel and PeeWee McDavid pool, Cube Development Team Global, had the most diverse roster of any team in the tournament with players from the United States, Canada, Slovakia and Serbia. The team’s founding was chronicled prior to the tournament here.
Next up for AAU Hockey is the inaugural College Hockey Federation Cup which will take place March 10-15 in Philadelphia, Penn. The event is the first collegiate event under the AAU Hockey umbrella and also marks the culmination of the collegiate non-varsity season. More information on the CHF Federation Cup is available here.
